New Year’s At the Oscars (And An Italian Dinner)

Not every city is lucky enough to have a full time professional orchestra, but the DSSO (Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra) is all ours. Their New Year’s concert is an annual highlight and a truly elegant way to spend the evening. Here’s their description of this year’s event:

Another year has come and gone in our Nordic Life. Be rewarded for your resilience to chilly temperatures and long dark nights and celebrate the year’s accomplishments with a red carpet celebration. This year-end concert will be dedicated to the Silver Screen. Keep your ears poised as your Symphony and special guest may perform that specific movie song you requested.

Yes, you read that right. The New Year’s repertoire is up to you. The votes from the audience are in and here’s the final score:

If you’re looking to make your evening even more elegant, stay with us two nights and get a free bottle of wine and a $30 gift certificate to nearby Valentini’s. Valentini’s is open New Year’s Eve (closed New Year’s Day), but it gets quite busy so you will want to reserve your table ASAP.

Or, if you’re busy New Year’s Eve, but wanted an elegant stay some other time, well… that offer is good Sunday-Thursday all winter.
