The Best Free Christmas Light Show Ever

Bentleyville Tour of Lights has turned on its millions of lights once again to thousands of onlookers at Bayfront Park in downtown Duluth. After 2 months of hundreds of volunteers and thousands of hours put into building the largest Christmas light show in the upper Midwest. Each year they add new light displays and a fresh new look encouraging people of all ages to come visit.

If you have ever traveled to Duluth in the winter, you may have noticed the GiNorMous illuminated tree peaking it’s top over the interstate to incoming guests. This winter park is a must-see for any visitors and locals alike. Bentleyville is located in Bayfront Festival Park located just down the road from Beacon Pointe Resort on 5th Ave West next to the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center and the Lake Superior Aquarium.

Bentleyville is free to the public, but donations are welcome and very much appreciated. They are a non profit organization and all donations go directly to the operations and purchases of new light displays. Visitors are encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy or non-perishable food item for the Salvation Army as well.

While gazing on a walking tour through the numerous scenes of winter wonder, fire pits are scattered throughout to gather around and roast marshmallows. A “Cookie House” offers free cookies, coffee and apple cider to everyone visiting. All the walking paths are paved allowing it to be fully handicapped accessible. A Popcorn building is also on the trail to hand out free popcorn as you stroll through the light show.

So while you are enjoying the moon and stars light show from the Beacon Pointe Resort balconies, why not drive the 10 minutes and catch a memory making winter night. Plus, Santa visits with guests nightly from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm every night from November 17 until December 23.
